How theme licensing works

What a single license covers and when you need another.

This is a demo help center. The policy below is example wording - replace it with your own licensing terms before going live.

One license = one store​

Each theme purchase includes a license for a single Shopify store (one .myshopify.com domain). The license is:

  • Permanent - once purchased, you can keep using that version indefinitely.
  • Inclusive of updates - you receive bug fixes and improvements for the theme on that store.
  • Usable on unpublished copies - you can duplicate the theme, use it on a development/unpublished copy, and preview it freely within the same store.

When you need another license​

Buy an additional license when you want to run the theme on a different store. For example:

  • A second brand or a separate .myshopify.com store needs its own license.
  • Moving the theme to a brand-new store (a different Shopify account) requires a license for that store.

You do not need a new license to move the theme between staging/unpublished copies within the same store.

What the license does not allow​

  • Reselling, redistributing, or sharing the theme files as your own product.
  • Using one license across multiple live stores.

Transferring a license​

If you're migrating to a new store or the ownership of a store changes, contact us through the contact form with your order number and we'll help move the license where it's allowed.
